The local Police Athletic League (PAL) of Boca Raton chapeter was created in January 1991 by the Boca Raton Police Services Department. To date PAL has grown to assist youth who are at risk of academic failure, substance abuse or criminal activity by providing safe places for them to go during non-school hours and obtain structured recreational activities. Boca Raton Police Officers act as role models to city youth and assist with sports, leadership, and educational activities.
The Boca Raton PAL has played a major role in the positive development of many of its youth participants. As a result of their involvement with PAL, a number of the youngsters have experienced imporvements academically and athelticlly. This has led to scholarship awards to private middle schools and high schools as well as colleges and universities. In addition to this, many of the participants have won titles in their area of sports locally and regionally.
PAL currently sponsors several different progams for youth activities including boxing, cheerleading, tennis and a youth directors program. PAL has trained championship boxers, championship competitive cheerleading squads, USTA tennis players, and youth directors that help volunteer in community projects and PAL events.
These achievements have resulted in greater self esteem, imporved decision making skills, better citizenship, and enhanced quality of life. The benefit of this growth and success extends beyond the program, as these yougsters become positve role models for peers and younger children in the community.
We welcome community support and sponsorship with open arms. Please inquire today about how you can become a part of our growing PAL community. To learn more, call (561) 750-5477, or email bocaratonpal@gmail.com.
